Once upon a time, in the colorful town of Glimmer-Glow, there was a very special shop. It was called the Cool Shop. In this shop, you could buy things to make you the coolest kid in town. You could buy hats that played music.
You could buy shoes that sparkled. You could even buy ice cream that never melted! Yum! To buy these things, you needed Cool Coins.
Clink, clank, cool! The coins were shiny and blue. Trendsetter Jin had the most Cool Coins in the whole town. Jin had a big bag of coins.
It went jingle, jingle, jingle when he walked. Jin always wore the newest sunglasses. He always wore the shiniest boots. Jin loved to say,'Look at me!
I am so cool! 'Then there was Ollie. Ollie was an outsider. Ollie did not have a bag of shiny coins.
Ollie wore a simple green shirt and brown pants. Ollie liked to look at bugs and draw pictures in the dirt. Ollie was very kind, but he felt a little bit shy. One sunny morning, Jin was walking to the Cool Shop.
He wanted to buy the Super-Duper Zoomer Cape. Whoosh! With that cape, you could fly fast! On the way, Jin saw something shiny in the tall grass.
It was not a blue coin. It was a Golden Coin. It sparkled like the sun. Jin gasped.
'Wow! 'said Jin. 'This is the Mayor's Golden Coin! 'But Jin wanted the Zoomer Cape very badly.
He looked around. Nobody was watching. Well, almost nobody. Ollie was sitting under a big tree.
Ollie saw Jin pick up the Golden Coin. Jin put the Golden Coin in his pocket. Zip! He ran to the shop.
Ollie felt a funny feeling in his tummy. It felt like a little wiggle. Ollie knew the coin belonged to the Mayor. Ollie stood up.
He took a deep breath. He followed Jin. Can you walk as quietly as a mouse? Tip-toe, tip-toe!
At the Cool Shop, Jin slammed the Golden Coin on the counter. 'I want the red cape! 'Jin shouted. The shopkeeper, Mr.
Twinkle, looked at the coin. Mr. Twinkle had a long white beard and kind eyes. 'Oh my,'said Mr.
Twinkle. 'This coin is very special. 'Suddenly, the Golden Coin started to buzz!
Bzzz! Bzzz! Then it turned red!
Pop! The coin jumped out of Mr. Twinkle's hand. It rolled across the floor and stopped right at Ollie's feet.
Jin's face turned red too. He looked scared. 'I... I found it,'whispered Jin.
'I just wanted to be cool. 'Mr. Twinkle looked at Jin. Then he looked at Ollie.
'Being cool is fun,'said Mr. Twinkle gently. 'But honesty is the coolest thing of all. 'Ollie picked up the coin.
He walked over to Jin. 'You should tell the truth, Jin,'said Ollie. His voice was soft but brave. 'It is okay to not have the cape.
'Jin looked at his shiny boots. Then he looked at Ollie's kind face. Jin took a deep breath. 'You are right, Ollie,'said Jin.
'I am sorry. 'Jin took the coin back. He walked outside to give it back to the Mayor. When he came back, his bag felt lighter, but his heart felt happy.
Mr. Twinkle smiled a big smile. 'Because you told the truth, Jin, I have a gift for you. 'He gave Jin a small sticker.
It said'Honest Hero'. And he gave Ollie a sticker too. It said'True Friend'. Jin and Ollie looked at each other and giggled.
Giggle, giggle! They walked out of the shop together. Jin did not have a flying cape. But he had a new friend.
And that was the coolest thing of all. The end.
