Once upon a time, in a busy, busy city, there lived two big boys. They lived very close to each other, but their lives were like two different worlds. Let me tell you about them. On one side of the park lived Leo.
Leo lived in a very tall tower. It went up, up, up into the clouds! Whoosh! Leo had his own room with a shiny floor.
He had a big bed with soft pillows. He had so many toys he could not count them all. He had toy cars that went Vroom! and robots that went Beep!
But Leo often felt lonely. He looked out his big window and sighed. Sigh. He wanted a friend to play with.
On the other side of the park lived Sam. Sam lived in a small, small house. It was cozy and warm. Sam did not have a tall tower.
He did not have many toys. He had one old ball and a kite he made himself. But Sam had a big smile. He lived with his family and they laughed together.
Ha ha ha! Sam looked out his small window and felt happy. He wanted to share his happiness. Every morning, the sun rose for both boys.
Good morning, sun! Every night, the moon came out for both boys. Good night, moon! They walked the same streets, but they did not see each other yet.
Leo walked with his head down looking at his fancy shoes. Click, clack, click, clack. Sam walked with his head up looking at the birds. Tweet, tweet, tweet.
Can you guess what happened next? One windy day, a magical thing happened. The wind went Whooooosh! It blew Leo’s favorite golden kite right out of his hands.
Oh no! Leo ran to the window. He saw his kite flying over the tall buildings. It flew past the park.
It flew past the trees. And then... Plop! It landed right in Sam’s small garden.
Sam was outside playing. He saw the golden kite. It sparkled in the grass. Sam picked it up gently.
He looked around. He saw Leo running across the park. Leo looked worried. His face was red.
Sam waited. Leo ran up, huffing and puffing. Huff, puff, huff, puff. "That is my kite,"Leo said quietly.
Sam smiled a warm smile. He held out the kite. "Here it is,"Sam said. "It is very beautiful.
"Leo was surprised. He thought Sam might keep it because it was so fancy. But Sam was kind. Leo took the kite.
"Thank you,"Leo said. "I am Leo. ""I am Sam,"said the boy from the small house. Leo looked at Sam’s old ball on the ground.
"Do you want to play? "Leo asked. Sam’s eyes got wide. "Yes!
"said Sam. So, the boy from the tall tower and the boy from the small house played together. They threw the ball back and forth. Throw!
Catch! Throw! Catch! They laughed and ran.
Zoom! They did not care about who had a big house and who had a small house. They just liked playing together. They were hungry after playing.
Leo had a shiny apple. Sam had a simple sandwich. They sat on the grass and shared their food. Munch, crunch, munch, crunch.
The food tasted better because they shared it. Leo learned that having many toys is fun, but having a friend is better. Sam learned that even people who live in tall towers can be lonely and need a friend. The sun began to set.
The sky turned orange and pink. It was time to go home. "See you tomorrow? "asked Leo.
"See you tomorrow! "said Sam. They waved goodbye. Wave, wave!
As they walked back to their parallel lives, they did not feel far apart anymore. They felt close in their hearts. Thump, thump, thump went their happy hearts. And every night, when the stars came out, Twinkle, twinkle, both boys looked at the same sky and smiled.
They knew that kindness is the best bridge between two worlds.
