Once upon a time, there was a girl named Suki. Suki was a teenager. That means she was big and tall! She had a smile that could light up a whole room.
Suki lived in a cozy yellow house with her adoptive family. There was Mom, Dad, and her little brother Leo. They loved Suki very much. Every morning, Mom would give Suki a big hug.
Squeeze! And every night, Dad would read her a story. Suki felt safe and happy. She had strong roots in this family.
Roots are like the roots of a big tree. They hold you tight and keep you safe. But Suki had a secret wonder. She thought about her birth family sometimes.
She called them her Heart Family. She wondered where they were and what they were like. One sunny day, Suki was sitting in the garden. She looked at the big oak tree.
*Rustle, rustle* went the leaves in the wind. Suddenly, something shiny fell from the sky. *Plop! * It landed right on Suki’s nose.
"Boop! "said Suki. She giggled. It was a beautiful blue feather.
It started to glow. *Sparkle, sparkle! * The feather floated up and danced in the air. It seemed to say,"Follow me!
"Suki stood up. "Where are we going? "she asked the feather. The feather zoomed up high.
*Whoosh! * Suddenly, Suki felt her feet get light. *Whoosh! * She began to fly!
Can you guess what happened next? Suki was flying in the sky! *Flap, flap, flap! * The wind was warm and soft.
She looked down at her little yellow house. It looked like a toy. "That is my home,"she said. "Those are my roots.
"She felt the love from her Mom and Dad deep down in her toes. It made her feel strong. Then the feather flew to a place Suki had never seen before.
It was a magical garden full of flowers. There were red roses, yellow daisies, and purple violets. *Buzz, buzz* went the happy bees. In the middle of the garden, Suki saw a lady and a man.
They looked very kind. The lady had eyes just like Suki’s. It was her Heart Family! Suki landed softly on the grass.
*Swish. * She felt a little shy, but she felt happy too. "Hello, Suki,"the lady said softly. Her voice was like a gentle song.
"We are so happy to see you,"said the man. He smiled a warm smile. Suki walked closer. "I have wings now,"she said.
"I can fly anywhere! ""Yes,"said the lady. "Your roots give you love. And your wings let you explore.
"They sat together on a soft bench. The man told Suki funny stories. *Hee hee! * The lady brushed Suki’s hair.
It was very kind. "We love you,"said the Heart Family. "Always. ""I love you too,"said Suki.
Her heart felt very big. It was full of kindness from two families. The blue feather glowed again. *Bling!
* It was time to go home. Suki waved goodbye. *Wave, wave! * She flew back to her cozy yellow house.
*Zoom! * When she landed, Mom and Dad were waiting. Leo was jumping up and down. *Boing, boing!
*"Did you have a good adventure? "asked Dad. "Yes,"said Suki. "I saw my roots.
I used my wings. And I felt so much love. "Mom gave Suki a big hug. "You have a big heart, Suki.
"Suki smiled. She knew she was lucky. She had roots to hold her safe. She had wings to let her fly.
And she had so much love to share. Can you flap your wings? *Flap, flap! * Can you stomp your roots?
*Stomp, stomp! * Suki was home. And she was very happy.
