Once upon a time, in a big green forest, there lived a bear. His name was Sleepy Bear. Sleepy Bear was very soft and very round. He had brown fur that felt like a warm blanket.
He had two little ears and a big black nose. It was nighttime. The moon was high in the sky. It looked like a big yellow cheese wheel.
The stars were twinkling like little lights. Blink, blink, blink. But Sleepy Bear was not sleeping. He was lying in his cozy bed made of dry leaves and moss.
He tossed and turned. He rolled to the left. He rolled to the right. He wiggled his toes.
He wiggled his nose. "Oh dear,"said Sleepy Bear. "I cannot sleep. I am too awake.
"Sleepy Bear sat up. He looked out the window of his cave. The forest was dark. He heard the crickets singing.
Chirp, chirp, chirp. He heard the wind blowing in the trees. Whoosh, whoosh. Sleepy Bear felt a little lonely.
He wanted a friend to play with. He wanted to go on an adventure. Suddenly, he saw a tiny light.
It floated through the window. It was pink and blue. It went blink, blink, blink! "Who is there?
"asked Sleepy Bear. "Can you guess what it is? "The light floated closer. It was not a bug.
It was not a star. It was a fairy! She was very small. She had wings that sparkled like glitter.
She wore a dress made of moonbeams. She was the Dream Fairy. "Hello, Sleepy Bear! "said the Dream Fairy.
Her voice sounded like a little bell. Tinkle, tinkle! Sleepy Bear rubbed his eyes. "Hello, Dream Fairy.
Why are you here? ""I am here to take you on a trip,"she said with a smile. "We are going to Dreamland! Would you like to come?
"Sleepy Bear felt excited. His tummy did a flip-flop. "Oh yes, please! "he said.
"That sounds fun! "The Dream Fairy waved her wand. Swish, swish! A stream of sparkles came out.
It made a soft slide right next to Sleepy Bear's bed. The slide was made of purple light. "Come on,"said the Dream Fairy. "Hold my hand.
"Sleepy Bear climbed out of bed. He held the fairy's tiny hand. It felt warm. They stepped onto the sparkle slide.
"Whoosh! "went Sleepy Bear. "Zoom! "went the Dream Fairy.
Up, up, up they went! Past the tall trees. Past the green leaves. Past the birds sleeping in their nests.
They went higher into the sky. Can you guess what they saw first? They saw the Cloud Forest. The clouds were fluffy and white.
They looked like big cotton balls. Some clouds were pink like cotton candy. Some were gray like rain clouds. "Look!
"said Sleepy Bear. "I can touch the clouds. "He reached out his paw. Squish!
The cloud felt soft and wet. It was like touching a cold pillow. "Let's jump,"said the Dream Fairy. Sleepy Bear jumped.
Boing! He bounced from one cloud to another. Boing, boing, boing! The Dream Fairy laughed.
"Giggle, giggle! You are a good jumper, Bear. "They bounced higher and higher. The air felt cool and nice.
Sleepy Bear saw a cloud that looked like a sheep. "Baaa,"said Sleepy Bear. He saw a cloud that looked like a big ice cream cone. "Yum,"he said.
Sleepy Bear felt happy. He was not lonely anymore. He had a new friend. "Where are we going now?
"asked Sleepy Bear. "To the Star Ocean,"said the Dream Fairy. They floated away from the clouds. Below them, the sky turned dark blue.
Suddenly, they saw water. But it was not water. It was made of stars! Splash!
Splash! The stars were shining and wet. "Wow,"said Sleepy Bear. "It is so bright.
"The Dream Fairy dipped her toes in the star water. "It is warm,"she said. "Try it. "Sleepy Bear put his big paw in.
The stars tickled his toes. It felt funny! Sleepy Bear laughed. "Hee hee hee!
"A big blue whale swam by. But the whale was made of stars too. The whale had sparkles on his back. The whale sang a song.
"Hooooooom. ""Hello, Mr. Star Whale,"said Sleepy Bear. "Are you going to Dreamland too?
"The whale nodded his big head. "Yes, follow me. "So, Sleepy Bear and the Dream Fairy followed the whale. They swam through the stars.
Glitter, glitter, glitter. Everything was shining. Little star fish swam around them. They were orange and red.
A school of star fish went by in a line. Swish, swish, swish. Sleepy Bear tried to catch one. But it was too fast.
"Gotcha! "said Sleepy Bear. But he only caught a handful of sparkles. Sleepy Bear looked at the Dream Fairy.
She was glowing. He felt safe with her. He felt warm inside. "I like you, Dream Fairy,"said Sleepy Bear.
"I like you too, Sleepy Bear,"she said. "Friends help each other dream. "They swam for a long time. They saw shooting stars go by.
Zip! Zap! They made a wish on every star. Finally, they saw a giant rock in the sky.
It was the Moon. It was glowing white. "We are here! "said the Dream Fairy.
They climbed onto the Moon. The ground was bumpy. It was made of moon rock. "Sniff, sniff,"went Sleepy Bear.
"What does the moon smell like? "The Dream Fairy laughed. "It smells like old dust and sweet dreams. "They walked on the moon.
Step, step, step. It was very quiet. No birds sang. No cars zoomed.
It was peaceful. Sleepy Bear felt his eyes get heavy. His tummy felt full of warm milk. He yawned.
A big, giant yawn. "Aaaaaah. ""Are you getting sleepy? "asked the Dream Fairy.
"Yes,"said Sleepy Bear. "The moon is so quiet. It makes me want to nap. "The Dream Fairy patted his head.
"That is good. Dreamland is for sleeping. "She waved her wand again. Swish, swish.
A bed made of moonbeams appeared. It looked very cozy. It had a pillow made of clouds. It had a blanket made of night sky.
"Lie down, Sleepy Bear,"she whispered. Sleepy Bear lay down. The moonbeams hugged him tight. They felt like a warm hug from a friend.
"Will you stay with me? "asked Sleepy Bear. He felt a little scared to be alone on the moon. "Of course,"said the Dream Fairy.
"I will stay right here. I will sing you a song. "She started to sing. Her voice was soft and low.
"Sleepy Bear, close your eyes. Dream of stars in the skies. Soft and warm, safe and deep, Time to go to fuzzy sleep. "Sleepy Bear liked the song.
He asked her to sing it again. So she did. "Sleepy Bear, close your eyes. Dream of stars in the skies.
"The song made Sleepy Bear feel safe. He knew he was not alone. He had a friend who cared about him. The Dream Fairy sprinkled some dream dust on his nose.
Poof! It smelled like lavender and flowers. It made him feel very sleepy. Sleepy Bear closed his eyes.
He saw pictures in his mind. He saw the fluffy clouds. He saw the star whale. He saw the Dream Fairy smiling.
Everything was good. Everything was kind. "Goodnight, Sleepy Bear,"whispered the Dream Fairy. "Goodnight, Dream Fairy,"whispered Sleepy Bear.
And then, Sleepy Bear was fast asleep. He snored softly. Snore, snore, snore. The Dream Fairy watched over him.
She made sure no bad dreams came near. Only happy, sparkly dreams were allowed. In the morning, the sun came up. Peek-a-boo!
The sun shone through the window of Sleepy Bear's cave. It was yellow and bright. Sleepy Bear opened his eyes. He was back in his own bed.
He sat up and stretched. Stretch, stretch, stretch! He looked around the cave. Everything was normal.
Was it a dream? Then he saw something on his pillow. It was a tiny sparkle. It was blue and pink.
It was from the Dream Fairy. Sleepy Bear smiled a big smile. He knew it was real. He had a friend in the sky.
"Thank you, Dream Fairy,"he said. He felt happy all day long. He knew that when night came again, he would have more magical adventures. And he would never be lonely again, because friendship is the best magic of all.
