Once upon a time, in a land of sparkling white snow, lived two little penguins. Their names were Penguin Pete and Penguin Pam. They were brother and sister, and they loved each other very much. One sunny morning, they put on their warm coats.
They waddled out of their igloo. Waddle, waddle, waddle. They were going to the Ice Slide Park! The Ice Slide Park was the most fun place in the snow.
There was a small slide and a medium slide. But best of all was the Giant Ice Slide. It was tall, shiny, and very blue. Pete and Pam ran to the slide.
But oh no! There was a long line. A big polar bear was at the front. Then there was a seal.
Then there was a walrus. Pete stopped running. He looked at the line. He frowned.
His flippers drooped down. Pete wanted to go right now. He did not want to wait. He wiggled his bottom.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. 'I want to slide! 'said Pete. 'I want to go fast!
'Pam smiled at him. She patted his back. 'It is okay, Pete,'she said softly. 'We must wait for our turn.
Waiting is part of the fun. 'Pete did not think waiting was fun. He tapped his feet. Tap, tap, tap.
He looked at the sky. He looked at the snow. He sighed a big sigh. Whoosh!
The polar bear went down the slide. Splash! He landed in the soft snow at the bottom. The polar bear laughed.
'That was great! 'he said. Pete watched the seal climb the stairs. Then the seal went down.
Zoom! It looked so fast. Pete wiggled again. 'Is it our turn yet?
'asked Pete. 'Not yet,'said Pam. 'Look, the walrus is going. 'Can you guess what sound the walrus made?
The walrus went down the slide. Weee! Then, something magical happened.
Because Pete and Pam were waiting so nicely, the snow began to sparkle. Tiny snowflakes danced around their heads. The ice slide started to glow. It glowed a soft pink color.
It was beautiful. 'Look, Pete! 'said Pam. 'The slide is glowing for us.
'Pete watched the snowflakes dance. He felt happy inside. He held Pam's flipper. They waited together.
They sang a little song. 'Wait, wait, wait. Do not be late. Wait for your turn, it is really great!
'Finally, the walrus moved out of the way. It was their turn! 'Yay! 'shouted Pete.
'Yay! 'shouted Pam. They climbed up the tall stairs. Step, step, step.
When they got to the top, they looked down. The slide was very high! Pete felt a little bit scared. But Pam held his flipper tight.
'I am here with you,'she said. 'We will slide together. 'They sat on the ice. It was cold and slippery.
They took a deep breath. Ready, set, go! They pushed off. Whoosh!
Down they went! The wind rushed past their faces. Swish, swish, swish. They went around a big curve.
They went over a little bump. Boing! They went faster and faster. Zoom, zoom, zoom!
Pete laughed loud. 'Ha ha ha! 'Pam laughed too. 'Weeee!
'The magic pink glow made the slide shine like a star. They saw the white snow getting closer and closer. Splash! They landed in the big pile of soft snow at the bottom.
They tumbled over and over. Giggle, giggle, giggle. They sat up and shook the snow off their heads. Pete had snow on his beak.
Pam had snow on her flippers. Pete looked at Pam. He smiled a big, happy smile. 'That was the best slide ever!
'said Pete. 'Waiting was hard,'said Pete. 'But the slide was worth it. 'Pam hugged Pete.
'Yes,'she said. 'And we waited together. That is why it was so fun. 'Pete felt warm and happy.
He loved his sister Pam. 'Can we go again? 'asked Pete. 'Yes,'said Pam.
'But we must wait in line again. ''Okay,'said Pete. And this time, he did not wiggle. He stood tall and held Pam's flipper.
He knew that good things come to those who wait. Waddle, waddle, waddle. Back to the line they went.
