Scene 1: Once's moment

Once upon a time, in a bright and sunny town, lived a little girl named Meera. She loved to talk! Talk, talk, talk! She talked about cats, she talked about stars, she talked about everything!

Her words went Zoom-zoom-zoom like happy little cars. One day, Coach Williams came to school. He wore a big smile and clapped his hands. Clap, clap!"Hello, friends!" he said."Who wants to play the Magic Words game?" Meera jumped up high."Me! Me! ME!" she shouted.

Her pigtails bounced. Boing-boing! Across the room sat Ryan. He was Meera's friend, but sometimes they did not agree.

Ryan raised his hand too."I want to try!" he said with a grin. Coach Williams laughed."Wonderful! Meera and Ryan will be debate friends!" "What is a debate?" Meera asked, tilting her head."It's when you share your ideas," Coach Williams explained."You say, 'I think this! ' And your friend says, 'I think that! ' Then you listen, listen, listen!" The first Magic Words game was about ice cream. Yum!"I think chocolate is the best!" Meera said, licking her lips."It is sweet like hugs!" Ryan shook his head."Nope! Strawberry is better!

It is pink like my favorite shirt!" They both looked at Coach Williams. Who was right? Coach Williams smiled."Both! Both ideas are special. Different flavors for different hearts." Meera blinked."Different can both be good?" "Yes!" Coach Williams said."Respecting means saying, 'Your idea is okay too!

'" The next day, they played again. The topic was bedtime stories. Whoosh!"Dragons are the best!" Meera said, spreading her arms wide."They go ROAR and fly!" Ryan giggled."But unicorns are magic!

They go NEIGH and sparkle!" "But dragons!" Meera said louder."But unicorns!" Ryan said louder. Their voices went up, up, up. Oh no! Coach Williams held up a shiny star sticker."Pause! Let's try Magic Ears." "Magic Ears?" the children asked together."First, Meera talks. Ryan listens with his Magic Ears open. Then Ryan talks.

Meera listens. Ready?" Meera took a deep breath."I like dragons because they protect their friends." Ryan nodded."That is nice. I like unicorns because they spread sparkles and joy." They looked at each other.

Giggle-giggle! They were still friends! Soon it was the BIG DAY. The Great Word Show!

All the parents came. Clap-clap-clap! Meera wore her lucky purple shoes. Ryan wore his lucky green hat.

The stage had two shiny podiums. Ooh-aah!"Today's Magic Word topic," announced Coach Williams,"is... Favorite Season!" Meera stepped forward."I like summer! Sun is warm like toast. We splash in pools!

Splash-splash!" Ryan stepped forward."I like winter! Snow is soft like pillows.

We build snow castles! Crunch-crunch!" They took turns. Back and forth, like a seesaw.

Then Meera had a new idea. She turned to Ryan."Can we make ONE big idea together?" Ryan's eyes went big."Together?" Meera nodded."What if summer AND winter are both super? We could have ice cream in summer and snowflakes in winter!" Ryan clapped."Yes! And we could share our favorites with each other!" Coach Williams beamed."Brilliant! You learned the greatest Magic Word of all: Respect." The audience cheered. Hooray-hooray!

Meera and Ryan bowed. Bow-bow! After the show, they gave each other high fives.

Smack!"You made me see winter is cool!" Meera said."And you made me love summer more!" Ryan said. They ran to their parents, hearts full of joy. Thump-thump! That night, Meera told her mom,"Mommy, I learned a secret today." "What is it, sweet pea?" "Different ideas can dance together! Like friends!" Mommy kissed her forehead."You grew your kindness today. I am proud!" Meera drifted to sleep, dreaming of dragons eating strawberry ice cream while unicorns built sandcastles under the summer sun. Zzz-zzz.

Can you guess what happened next? Every Tuesday after that, Meera and Ryan played Magic Words with new friends. They talked about favorite colors (blue AND yellow! ), favorite animals (puppies AND kittens!

), and favorite songs (fast AND slow! ). They learned the world is brighter with many colors, many thoughts, and many hearts. Respect makes everyone feel warm and welcome, just like a big cozy hug.

The end... or is it the beginning of YOUR Magic Words game?
