Once upon a time, there was a little white cat named Luna. Luna lived on the big blue Earth, but she loved to look up at the moon."Look!" Luna would say."The moon is smiling at me!" Every night, Luna sat by her window. She watched the twinkly stars. She watched the bright moon.
She wiggled her whiskers and whispered,"I want to visit the moon!" One sparkly night, something amazing happened! A big shiny spaceship came down from the sky. It went WHOOSH!
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! Out stepped Captain Cosmo. He wore a silver suit and a big shiny helmet.
His boots went CLUMP! CLUMP! on the ground."Hello, little cat!" said Captain Cosmo."I'm going to the moon. Do you want to come?" Luna's eyes went wide.
Her tail went POOF! She felt a little scared. The moon was so far away!"I...
I..." Luna's voice was tiny."It's okay to feel scared," said Captain Cosmo."Being brave means doing something even when you're scared." Luna looked up at the moon again. It looked so friendly and bright. She took a deep breath."I want to be brave," she said."Hooray!" cheered Captain Cosmo."Let's go!" They climbed into the spaceship.
Inside were lots of buttons that went BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! And lights that blinked RED!
BLUE! GREEN!"Ready?" asked Captain Cosmo."Ready!" said Luna. Her heart went THUMP THUMP. The spaceship shook.
It rattled. It went 3... 2... 1...
BLAST OFF! WHOOSH! Up they flew! Past the fluffy white clouds.
Past the birds flying high. Up, up, up into the sky!"Wheeeee!" Luna laughed."This is fun!" But then... BUMP! The spaceship hit something.
It wiggled. It wobbled. It shook!"Oh no!" said Captain Cosmo."A space rock hit us!" Luna felt scared again. Her whiskers wiggled.
Her paws shook. But she remembered what Captain Cosmo said."I can help!" Luna said.
She was still scared, but she wanted to try. Luna saw a red button. It said "FIX" on it. She pressed it with her paw.
PRESS! The spaceship went BEEP BEEP! Then it stopped wobbling.
It flew straight again!"You did it!" said Captain Cosmo."You were so brave!" Luna felt warm inside. She purred a big purr. PURRRRR! They flew past sparkly stars that went TWINKLE TWINKLE.
They flew past colorful planets that went SWIRL SWIRL."Look!" said Captain Cosmo."There's the moon!" The moon was big and round and bright. It had bumpy craters that looked like cheese holes! The spaceship went down... down...
down... BUMP! They landed!"We made it!" cheered Luna. They put on special space helmets. CLICK! The helmets locked on.
Luna stepped out. Her paws went PADDY PADDY on the soft moon dust. It felt like powdered sugar!"Wow!" Luna said."The moon is beautiful!" She jumped up high. BOING!
She floated down slow like a feather. On the moon, you can jump super high! Luna and Captain Cosmo played moon tag. They jumped over moon rocks.
They danced in moon dust that went SWISH SWISH! But soon, it was time to go home. Luna felt happy and a little sad too."Thank you for helping me be brave," Luna said."You were always brave," said Captain Cosmo."You just had to try!" They climbed back in the spaceship. WHOOSH!
Up they went again. As they flew home, Luna looked out the window. The Earth looked like a big blue marble. It was so pretty!"Home is beautiful too," Luna thought. Soon they landed back on Earth. Luna stepped out. The grass felt soft under her paws.
The air smelled like flowers."I'm home!" Luna purred. That night, Luna sat by her window again.
She looked up at the moon."Hello, moon!" she said."I visited you!
I was brave!" The moon seemed to smile bigger than ever. TWINKLE TWINKLE! Now, whenever Luna feels scared, she remembers her moon adventure.
She takes a deep breath and says,"I can be brave!" And do you know what? She always is! The end.
