Once upon a time, in a town full of busy houses and noisy cars, lived a girl named Jaya. Jaya was not just a girl. Jaya was a Story Catcher! She had big ears for listening and a heart full of kindness.
She carried a bright yellow notebook and a pencil that went *scribble scratch* everywhere she went. One sunny morning, Jaya put on her special listening hat. It had a big flower on top. She walked to the park.
*Tap tap tap* went her shoes on the path. The park was green and warm. But in the corner of the park, Jaya saw something sad. She saw a group of people sitting on benches.
They looked very quiet. They looked a little lonely. These were new friends who came from far away. They traveled over big oceans and high mountains to find a safe home.
Can you make a sad face like you are lonely? Now make it happy! Jaya wanted to help. She took a deep breath.
*Whoosh! * She walked over to the bench. She saw a little boy sitting by himself. His name was Leo.
Leo came from a place with lots of snow. 'Hello,'said Jaya with a big smile. 'My name is Jaya. What is your name?
'Leo looked up. His eyes were wide. 'I am Leo,'he whispered. 'It is nice to meet you, Leo,'said Jaya.
'Do you have a story to share? 'Leo nodded his head slowly. 'I miss the cold snow,'Leo said. 'I like to make snowballs.
*Splat! *'Jaya opened her yellow notebook. She used her pencil. *Scribble scratch, scribble scratch.
* She wrote down Leo's story. Then, something magical happened! A shiny white flower popped out of the ground near Leo's feet. *Pop!
* It sparkled like frost. Leo gasped. 'Look! 'he pointed.
'A snow flower! 'Jaya smiled. 'Your voice made a flower,'she said. Next, Jaya saw a woman named Amara.
Amara had a beautiful dress with bright red patterns. She came from a hot place where the sun is very strong. Amara looked shy. She was hiding behind her hands.
Jaya sat down next to her. 'Hello Amara,'said Jaya gently. 'I am listening. 'Amara peeked out.
'I miss the drums,'Amara said softly. 'In my home, we play big drums. *Boom boom bap! *'Jaya wrote it down fast.
*Scribble scratch, scribble scratch. * Suddenly, a red flower popped up! *Pop! * It looked like a drum.
It hummed a little tune. *Hummmmm. * Amara started to clap her hands. *Clap clap clap!
* Soon, more people came to the bench. There was Mr. Kim, who missed the green bamboo forests. *Swish swish* went the bamboo in his story.
There was Mrs. Gomez, who missed the blue ocean waves. *Splash splash* went the water in her story. Jaya listened to everyone.
She wrote down every single word. *Scribble scratch. * With every story, a new flower grew. A green bamboo flower.
A blue water flower. A yellow sun flower. An orange pumpkin flower! The empty corner of the park was not empty anymore.
It was full of colors! It was full of sounds! It was a Magic Story Garden. The people who were lonely started to smile.
They felt happy. They felt seen. Jaya clapped her hands. 'Look!
'she cried. 'Your voices are beautiful! Your stories are growing a garden! 'The new friends laughed.
*Giggle giggle! * They shared cookies and juice. They told more stories. They danced to the drum flower.
*Boom boom bap! * Can you guess what happened next? The other people in the park came over to see the magic. They saw the beautiful flowers.
They heard the wonderful stories. Everyone said,'Welcome! Welcome! 'The new friends did not feel like they were on the margins anymore.
They were right in the middle, having fun. Jaya closed her notebook. She was tired but happy. She learned that everyone has a story inside them.
Sometimes, people just need a friend to listen. When we are kind, and when we listen, beautiful things grow. Just like the magic flowers. So, if you see someone who looks lonely, what can you do?
You can be like Jaya. You can smile. You can listen. You can help a story grow.
The End.
