Once upon a time, there was a very special train. His name was Hobrain. Hobrain was not a dark train. He was not a rusty train.
Hobrain was bright pink! Pink like a yummy strawberry ice cream. Pink like a fluffy flower. He had a big round face and a happy smile.
Chug chug chug went Hobrain. He rolled down the shiny tracks. The sun was shining bright. The birds were singing tweet tweet tweet.
Hobrain felt very happy. He loved to carry toys and apples to the town. Beep beep! went his little horn.
One sunny morning, Hobrain had a big job. He had to cross the Big Dark Mountain to bring balloons to the birthday party. The balloons were red and blue and yellow. They bobbed up and down.
Hobrain puffed out his chest. I can do this! he thought. But then, he saw the mountain.
It was very tall. It had pointy rocks. The trees looked like scary monsters. Oh no!
thought Hobrain. I am a little pink train. The mountain is too big! His wheels started to shake.
Wiggle wiggle wiggle. I am scared, said Hobrain quietly. Hobrain tried to move. Chug chug.
But his wheels felt heavy. His heart went thump thump thump. I want to go home, he whispered. A little blue bird flew down.
Hello Hobrain! said the bird. Why are you stopping? The balloons are waiting!
I am scared of the mountain, said Hobrain. It looks too dark. The bird hopped on Hobrain’s roof. You are strong, Hobrain.
You are pink and bright! You can light up the dark. Just go slow. Chug chug chug.
Hobrain took a deep breath. Whoosh! He filled his engine with air. Okay, he said.
I will try. He started to roll. Click clack click clack. The sound echoed on the tracks.
Can you guess what happened next? The mountain was dark, but Hobrain was bright! His pink paint glowed in the shadows. Look at me go!
said Hobrain. He went a little faster. Whoosh! The wind blew his hat, but he kept it on tight.
Suddenly, there was a big noise! Rumble rumble! Rocks fell on the track. Oh no!
cried Hobrain. I cannot go through! His wheels stopped. He felt scared again.
What should I do? He looked at the balloons. They were bouncing. Be brave, Hobrain, he told himself.
You are a strong train. He looked at the rocks. They were heavy. But Hobrain was strong too.
He pushed his wheels against the rocks. Push push push! The rocks moved! Scrape scrape scrape.
He made a path. He did it! He was very brave. Hobrain puffed up the hill.
Puff puff puff. It was hard work. His engine felt hot. But he did not stop.
He thought about the happy children waiting for the balloons. He thought about the birthday cake. Yum! Almost there, said Hobrain.
The bird sang a song. Tweet tweet! You are doing great! Hobrain smiled.
He felt strong now. He felt brave. The scary trees looked just like silly old sticks now. Finally, Hobrain reached the top of the mountain.
He looked down. The town was below. It looked like a box of toys. Zoom!
Hobrain went down the other side. It was fast! Weeeeeeee! He laughed.
The wind tickled his face. He rolled into the town square. The children were waiting. Look!
shouted a little girl. It is Hobrain! The children cheered. Yay!
Hobrain stopped with a screech. Eeeeee! Hobrain unloaded the balloons. The children grabbed them.
Thank you, Hobrain! they said. You saved the party! Hobrain felt so warm and happy inside.
He was not scared of the mountain anymore. He knew he was brave. I did it! said Hobrain.
I am a brave pink train! The bird flew away. See you soon, brave Hobrain! Hobrain honked his horn.
Beep beep! He chugged home, feeling very proud. Chug chug chug. What a wonderful day.
