Once upon a time, high in the bright blue sky, there was a tiny white cloud named Cloudy. Cloudy loved to play. He floated and fluffed and giggled,"Whee! Look at me!" But Cloudy had a problem. All the big clouds could rain."Pitter-patter! Splash!" They made puddles for ducks and water for flowers. Little Cloudy could not rain. Not one drop."I try and try," he sniffed,"but my rain is all stuck!" Sunny the Sun peeked over the mountain."Good morning, Cloudy! Why so sad?" "I can't rain like the big clouds," Cloudy said."I'm too small. I'm too silly. I can't do it!" Sunny smiled warm and golden."Being small is okay. We just need a helper!" Whoosh! Breezy the Wind zoomed in, spinning like a happy top."Did someone say helper? That's me!" Cloudy's cheeks puffed."But I really, really can't!" "Let's try together," said Sunny."First, be my friend. Friends help friends!" Cloudy felt a tiny spark."Friends? Really?" "Really really!" giggled Breezy, tickling Cloudy's fluffy belly.
Sunny wrapped Cloudy in warm sunbeams."Take a deep breath, little cloud. Fill up with sky!" Cloudy breathed in...
and in... and IN! He grew bigger and rounder."I'm getting puffy!" Breezy spun around and around."Round and round, up and down. Wheee!" Cloudy wobbled."I feel wiggly!" "That's good!" said Sunny."Now think of happy things!" Cloudy thought of puppies, and ice cream, and bedtime stories. His tummy rumbled. Rumble-rumble! Gurgle-gurgle!"Something is happening!" Cloudy squeaked. Sunny beamed brighter."You're almost ready!" Breezy whispered,"Close your eyes, Cloudy. Feel the magic inside!" Cloudy squeezed his eyes shut. His heart went thump-thump-thump.
Then... drip! One tiny drop fell. Plip!
Then another. Plop! Then more!
Drip-drop, splish-splash!"I'm raining! I'm raining!" Cloudy sang."Look at me go!" The flowers below danced."Yay! Thank you, Cloudy!" The ducks quacked,"Woohoo! Puddles!" Cloudy laughed and cried happy tears."I did it!
I did it! But... I didn't do it alone." Sunny winked."Friends make everything better!" Breezy did a loop-de-loop."Hooray for teamwork!" Cloudy looked down at the shiny, sparkly world."Thank you, Sunny. Thank you, Breezy. You are my best sky buddies!" From then on, whenever Cloudy felt too small, he called his friends."Sunny! Breezy! I need a hug!" They always came.
Because that's what friends do. And every time, Cloudy made the prettiest raindrops you ever saw. Can you guess what happened next?
Cloudy learned to share his rain with everyone, even the tiny ants and the tall trees. And every night, the sky whispered,"Good job, Cloudy. Good job, friends." The end.
Snuggle close and dream of happy clouds.
