Once upon a time, in a sunny garden with flowers of every color, Biologist Bea was spinning in circles."Oh no!" she cried."The bees are sleepy and lost!" Bea wore big round glasses and a bright yellow coat. She looked sad, very sad. Then five happy kids ran up.
Their names were Mia, Max, Leo, Zoe, and Kai. They all wore tiny explorer hats."We can help!" shouted Mia."We love bees!" "Buzz-buzz!" said Max, flapping his arms like wings. Bea smiled a little smile."The bees need magic flowers to find their way home. But the flowers are far, far away, past the wiggly river and the bumpy hill. Can you guess what happened next?
The kids stood tall."We will save the bees!" they said all together. First, they needed a plan.
They sat in a circle and thought, thought, thought. Zoe got an idea."Let's make bee boats!" she said.
Kai clapped."With twigs and leaves!" Leo added,"And we can paint them yellow like sunshine!" So they built and painted.
Swish-swish went the brushes. Tap-tap went the twigs. Five little bee boats were ready. Zoom!
Into the wiggly river they went. But oh! The river was fast. Swish-swash!
The boats spun round and round. The kids gasped."Hold tight, boats!" cried Bea.
Then Max had another idea."Let's sing the bee song!" They sang,"Buzzy-bee, buzzy-bee, fly home to me!" The boats heard the song and zipped straight ahead.
Whoosh! Next came the bumpy hill. Boom-boom went their feet as they climbed."I feel tired," said Zoe."Let’s use our magic words," said Bea."We can do it, yes we can!" The kids said it again and again, louder and louder."We can do it, yes we can!" Their legs felt strong again. Up, up, up they went. Huff-puff! At the top, they saw a tiny cave.
Inside, glowing flowers waited - pink, purple, and gold."We found them!" cheered Mia. They picked the flowers gently, gently, like the flowers were made of soap bubbles.
But now they had to go back. Bea looked worried."The sun is going sleepy. How will the bees see us?" Leo held up the glowing flowers."These will shine like little lanterns!" The kids made a line and held the flowers high. Glow-glow-glow!
They walked back through the dark. The flowers lit their path like tiny stars. When they reached the garden again, the bees were still sleepy and lost. They made tiny crying sounds."Bzz... bzz..." "Time for the magic," whispered Bea. The kids planted the glowing flowers in a big circle.
They sang their bee song again."Buzzy-bee, buzzy-bee, fly home to me!" The bees woke up! Their wings went zzz-zzz-zzz!
They flew in happy loops. They danced around the glowing flowers. One bee landed on Mia’s nose."Tickle-tickle!" she giggled. All the bees knew the way home now. They zoomed to their hive like tiny yellow arrows. Bea counted them."One, two, three, four, five... all the bees are safe!" The kids jumped up and down."We did it!
We did it!" they shouted. Bea gave each kid a shiny bee badge."You are the Super Bee Team!" she said. The badges sparkled in the moonlight. The bees made the garden bloom bigger and brighter than ever. Red roses, blue bells, yellow sunflowers - every color you can dream!
The kids came back every day to say hello. And every time they came, the bees buzzed a happy song just for them. Bzzz-bzzz-bzzz! The sound was like a thank-you hug.
Before they left, Bea asked,"Will you help the bees again?" "Yes! Yes! Yes!" the kids sang together."We love our buzzy friends!" The moon smiled down. The flowers glowed soft.
And the bees danced until the stars blinked goodnight. Snuggle close now. Can you hear the bees saying thank you in their tiny buzzy voices? Good night, little hero.
Sweet dreams of yellow wings and magic flowers.
