Once upon a time, botanist Bea put on her yellow boots. Tap! Tap! They went on her feet.
She hugged her tiny plant friend, Sprout. 'Today we look for special words! ' she said. Bea walked into the green, green forest.
Swish! Swish! went the leaves. She saw flowers dancing.
'Hello, flowers! ' she called. But the flowers stayed quiet. Bea felt a little sad.
'Why won't you talk? ' she whispered. Just then, she heard a kind voice.
'They are waiting for the lost words,' said tribal elder Kai. He wore a soft brown robe and had twinkly eyes. 'I am Kai. I help the forest.
But the flower words are gone! ' Bea's eyes got big. 'Gone? Oh no!
We can help! ' She held Sprout tight. 'Right, Sprout? ' Kai smiled big.
'With teamwork, we can find them! ' They tip-toed deeper. Squish! Squish!
went the mud. Bea saw blue butterflies. 'Have you seen the lost words? ' she asked.
The butterflies shook their heads. Whoosh! They flew away. Kai touched a tall tree.
'The tree says the words flew up in the wind. ' Bea looked up. Way, way up! Clouds floated like fluffy sheep.
'Up there? ' she gasped. 'But how do we reach them? ' Kai laughed softly.
'We ask friends! ' Together they sang: 'Forest friends, come help us please! Bring the words back to the trees! ' A red bird swooped down.
Tweet-tweet! A green frog hopped over. Ribbit-ribbit! A busy bee buzzed by.
Buzz-buzz! 'We will help! ' chirped the bird. 'Teamwork time!
' croaked the frog. The bird flew high. The frog jumped on rocks. The bee danced in circles.
Bea and Kai followed the bee's wiggle dance. Wiggle-wiggle! They found a shiny pond. Splash!
A little fish popped up. 'I saw sparkly letters in my water! ' she said. Bea knelt down.
She saw tiny, glowing letters: T-H-A-N-K. 'Look! ' she said. 'It spells THANK!
' Kai clapped. 'The flowers say THANK when we are kind to them! ' They put the word in Bea's soft bag. Zip!
It felt warm and happy. Next, they climbed a small hill. Huff-puff! Bea's legs were tired.
'I can do it! ' she said. Kai held her hand. 'Together we are strong!
' he said. At the top, they found a giggling squirrel. 'I have word number two! ' he squeaked.
He dropped golden letters: Y-O-U. Bea giggled too. 'YOU! It says YOU!
' Kai nodded. 'The flowers say YOU are special! ' Two words now! Bea danced a little dance.
'Almost there! ' The wind blew gently. Whoosh! It carried letters like tiny leaves.
Bea reached up high. Stretch! She caught three more letters: L-O-V-E. 'LOVE!
' she shouted. 'We found LOVE! ' Now they had THANK, YOU, and LOVE. They ran back to the flowers, feet going pat-pat-pat.
Kai stood tall. 'Time to give the words back! ' he said. Bea, Kai, Sprout, bird, frog, bee, fish, and squirrel all stood in a circle.
They held hands (or paws, or wings). 'One, two, three! ' they said together. They tossed the glowing letters into the air.
Swirl-swirl! The letters danced like sparkles. The flowers opened wide. They sang a soft song: 'Thank you!
We love you! Thank you! We love you! ' Bea's heart felt warm like hot cocoa.
'They are talking again! ' she cried. Kai gave her a gentle hug. 'Teamwork makes magic happen,' he said.
Sprout wiggled his tiny leaf. Bea planted him near the flowers. 'Now you can hear the words every day,' she said. The flowers swayed.
'Come back soon! ' they said. 'We have more stories! ' Bea waved goodbye.
'We will! We promise! ' As they walked home, the sunset painted the sky pink and orange. Bea held Kai's hand.
'I liked working together,' she said. Kai smiled. 'The forest likes it too. When we help each other, everyone is happy.
' Bea looked back once more. The flowers were still singing their thank-you song. She knew the words would never be lost again, as long as friends worked as one. That night, Bea tucked Sprout on her windowsill.
She whispered, 'Thank you for helping, little friend. ' Sprout glowed softly. 'Thank you,' he seemed to say back. And somewhere in the forest, the flowers sang a lullaby of lost words found again, all because of teamwork and a very kind heart.
